Sometimes there isn't a complicated story behind a painting. I wanted to paint a flamingo.
I had every intention of suggesting the feathers rather than painting them all, and somewhere along the way the flamingo had other ideas. What I ended up loving most was the color—the coral reds, soft pinks and cool blues—and his expression. There's something wonderfully coquettish about him, like a burlesque dancer peeking over a feather fan.
Honestly, I think he knows exactly what he's doing.
Fine art print from an original watercolor painting. Available in 11×14, 16×20 and 18×24 inches. Prints include a white border and are sold unframed.
